How to Use Google Analytics: 3 Steps for Beginners
Learn how to use Google Analytics in three steps: sign in, read your audience report, and see which articles bring visitors to your site or blog.
Google Analytics is a tool for tracking activity on your website or blog. It shows visitor statistics, including how people arrive through search engines, ads, email marketing, and more. Many bloggers never learn how to use it. Make sure you also have a Google Analytics account, then follow these steps:
Sign In to Google Analytics
To start, go to the Google Analytics website. You can sign in with any Google account you already have. Signing up for a Google account works much like signing up for Gmail, which is why people often call it a Gmail account.

Choose Reporting
Choose Reporting, then look at the left-hand side, where you will see Audience. Click it, then click Overview in the list below it. Here you will see a graph of how quickly your blog's visitor count grows each day. The graph also shows sessions, users, page views, pages per session, session duration, bounce rate, and more.
Track Article Performance
Google Analytics does more than show site statistics. It also shows how each article on your website performs. To see this, open the menu on the left and choose Behavior, then choose Site Content in its submenu. Click All Pages to see a list of your top 10 articles with their rates. For your top articles, the bounce rate should be below 80%, which means visitors go on to open other articles. If it is above 80%, visitors open only one article and leave without reading any others. It helps to add links in your best-performing articles that lead to your other articles, so visitors keep reading.
